Volunteer Opportunities

The following is a list of volunteer opportunities available in the Youth Services department for grades 8 and up.

Please stop by or call the Youth Services desk at 847-677-5277, x234 for more information or to sign up.

Thursday, June 21: Way Out Space Craft Day
Duties: craft set-up, craft help, clean up
Time: 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. OR 6:30-9 p.m.

Tuesday, June 26: Fun in the Sun Events (rain or shine)
Duties: help with craft and games
Time: 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Monday, July 9: Harry Potter film (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone)
Duties: hand out snack tickets, serve snacks, clean up
Time: 1:30-5 p.m.

Tuesday, July 10: Harry Potter film (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets)
Duties: hand out snack tickets, serve snacks, clean up
Time: 1:30-5 p.m.

Wednesday, July 11: Harry Potter film (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban)
Duties: hand out snack tickets, serve snacks, clean up
Time: 1:30-5 p.m.

Thursday, July 12: Harry Potter film (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)
Duties: hand out snack tickets, serve snacks, clean up
Time: 1:30-5 p.m.

Monday, July 16: "Out-of-this-World" Family Film (Muppets from Space)
Duties: hand out snack tickets, serve snacks, clean up
Time: 6:30-9 p.m.

Thursday, July 19: Harry Potter-Palooza
Duties: set-up, service snacks, clean up (note: costumes optional)
Time: 6-9 p.m.

Monday, August 6: "Out-of-this-World" Family Film (Zathura)
Duties: hand out snack tickets, serve snacks, clean up
Time: 6:30-9 p.m.

Saturday, August 11: Planet Landing Crafts
Duties: craft set-up, craft help, clean up
Time: 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (can accommodate shifts)

Other Opportunities

In addition to needing volunteers for specific programs, we have several other opportunities.

Duties: Craft prep
Dates and times are flexible. We will call when needed.

Caroline's Valuable Summertime Volunteers
Duties: Volunteer opportunities will be determined based on volunteer's interests (for example, reading, art, Internet, etc.)

Thursday, July 5, 11 a.m. OR 3 p.m

Adult Summer Reading Program

Attention adults! Do you enjoy reading? Then be sure to sign up for the adult summer reading program. Register and you'll receive:

• Ravinia lawn tickets (Two tickets per household (to the same performance) on a first-come, first-serve basis. You must be 18 years or older to receive tickets.)
• $0.50 off any purchase from the Friends of the Library sale shelves or at a Friends of the Library book sale
• Each week you check in, you’ll receive a small token of appreciation and raffle tickets for each activity you complete (Raffle tickets will be used for periodic drawings throughout the summer. Drawings will be for gift certificates to area eateries.)
• A chance to guess the number of flying saucers (chocolate candies) in the Can you Guess jar
  The correct guess wins the jar.
